In the past two months, mayors of 11 cities in Maryland, Montana, South Carolina and Wisconsin have issued proclamations recognizing the value of general aviation (GA), including business aviation and local airports.

The recent mayoral proclamations reflect the principles of the No Plane No Gain advocacy campaign, an effort launched by NBAA and the General Aviation Manufacturers Association in 2009. Since that time, all 50 states have officially recognized the value of general aviation, including business aviation, through proclamations incorporating themes established through the campaign.

Mayors across the country have been issuing GA proclamations at an increasing rate. In all of 2013, just 16 mayors issued proclamations, but by June of this year the count had reached 100, and more are expected before the end of 2014.
