Four state governors and 14 city leaders have proclaimed March as the month to recognize the value of general aviation (GA), including business aviation, and community airports.
In declaring Aviation Appreciation Month, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal said aviation is “providing benefits to the community in… freight services, emergency medical services, agricultural services, law enforcement, community service flights, search and rescue operations, oil/gas industry operations and economic growth.” View the Louisiana proclamation. In her proclamation, New Hampshire Gov. Margaret Wood Hassan wrote, “many communities in New Hampshire depend heavily on general aviation and community airports for the continued flow of commerce, tourists and visitors to our state.” View the New Hampshire proclamation. (PDF)
North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple noted that “aviation continues to play an important role as an economic catalyst in North Dakota, creating over 16,000 jobs and contributing $1.6 billion annually to the state’s economy.” View the North Dakota proclamation. (PDF)
