The NBAA 57th Annual Meeting & Convention (NBAA2004) comes to the Las Vegas Convention Center next week, October 12 through 14, with a record number of Exhibitors. Compared to last year's Convention - which included 1,068 Exhibitors - this year 1,084 Exhibiting Companies are registered for NBAA2004, including those appearing only at the Static Display of Aircraft, where 87 aircraft will be shown. A total of 4,550 10-foot by 10-foot booth spaces have been sold, and more than 75 Informational Sessions are scheduled. NBAA2004 AIR TRAFFIC ISSUES
NBAA2004 and other high-draw Las Vegas events are straining local air traffic and FBOs to their operational limits. As a result, aircraft overnight parking during NBAA2004 in Las Vegas is reported to be at capacity for McCarran International (LAS), North Las Vegas (VGT) and Henderson Executive (HND) airports. At this time, neither FBO at LAS is accepting "drop and go" reservations. NBAA is working aggressively to restore "drop and go" services at McCarran. In addition, NBAA is aware of a likely VIP visit to Las Vegas on the morning of Thursday, October 14, which may significantly impact departure flights from the three Las Vegas airports. NBAA2004 LAS VEGAS STMP
The FAA has published a Special Traffic Management Program (STMP) for NBAA2004 that will require all IFR flights to or from the Vegas area to obtain a slot reservation prior to filing a flight plan. The STMP program will be in effect from October 8 to 18. Slot reservations will be required for McCarran, Henderson Executive, North Las Vegas, Boulder City Airport (61B) and Jean Airport (0L7). Additionally, most FBOs in the Las Vegas area will be requiring ramp reservations. Pilots are encouraged to review and familiarize themselves with the NOTAM at:
