By Every Yardstick, NBAA2011 an Outstanding Success
As the NBAA 64th Annual Meeting & Convention (NBAA2011) drew to a close earlier this month in Las Vegas, NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen thanked Exhibitors and Attendees for what he called "a highly successful show.... What we are seeing is that the show is providing real value to the business aviation community, even in these challenging economic times," he said. "It's clear that the Convention continues to be a must-attend event for anyone whose passion or profession involves business aviation." The show closed with 26,077 people in attendance, a 7 percent jump in attendance over that for last year's event. Review show highlights at:

New Board Chairman Brings Owner-Operator Perspective to Role
As CEO and chief pilot for Manitoba Corporation, newly elevated NBAA Board Chairman Richard Shine flies his own Mitsubishi MU-2 turboprop twin on company business. Shine said he hopes to bring an owner-operator's perspective to his position. "I come from a different background than other Board chairmen that we've had over the years, but my goals and my aspirations for myself and for my company are no different than the people with this Gulfstream behind me," Shine explained. "We all want to be able to fly our airplanes where we want, when we want, with good safety, and have access to airports and airspace." Read more at:

Bolen Welcomes Exhibitor Commitments for ABACE2012
During NBAA2011, Association President and CEO Ed Bolen provided a first look at some of the companies officially committed to exhibit at the Asian Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (ABACE2012) in Shanghai, from March 27 to 29, 2012. Bolen detailed the progress for the show alongside international business aviation leaders and representatives from the Shanghai Airport Authority. In addition to Avfuel, Jet Aviation, JSSI, Lufthansa Technik, Pratt & Whitney, Rolls-Royce, TAG, Universal Weather & Aviation, Honeywell and BBA, other business aviation companies have signed Exhibitor agreements for ABACE2012, and Asia-based product and service providers have also signed on, including Hong Kong Jet, Metrojet and Sino Jet Management. The NBAA Schedulers & Dispatchers (S&D) Conference is an outstanding opportunity for companies to interact with individuals responsible for coordinating the use of business aircraft. NBAA Announces Call for Speakers: 2012 Regional Forums
NBAA has announced its call for speakers for education sessions at the Association's 2012 Business Aviation Regional Forums. Proposals for presentations on topics such as safety and risk management, maintenance and technical issues, airspace and airport access, aircraft and flight operations, aviation management, aircraft ownership and career and leadership development are welcome. NBAA Benefit Raised $220,000 for Life-Saving Flights
This year's NBAA/CAN Charity Benefit raised $220,000 to support Corporate Angel Network's (CAN's) life-saving flights for cancer patients. "The business aviation community has long understood the need to 'give back,' and that was clearly in evidence in this show of support for CAN's work," said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. "The contributions raised through our benefit will make a difference in many people's lives." CAN Executive Director Peter Fleiss agreed, stating: "For decades, the business aviation community has offered a helping hand to the many people whose lives are touched by cancer.
