CAN Accepts "Outstanding Achievement in Public Benefit Flying" Award
September 10, 2009
At a September 10, 2009 ceremony on Capitol Hill, Peter Fleiss, Executive Director of the Corporate Angel Network (CAN) accepts the "Outstanding Achievement in Public Benefit Flying" award, issued by the National Aeronautic Association and the Air Care Alliance. The award recognized CAN's role in helping cancer patients connect with business aircraft operators for transport to treatment centers across the country. Through organizations like CAN, business aviation supports people and communities in times of crisis, helping facilitate donor-organ transport, flights that carry people with illnesses to treatment facilities and missions to bring relief and provisions to victims of natural disasters. NBAA nominated CAN for the award, and the Association is recognized for its support in the video. NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen, who attended the event, noted: "This award is fitting tribute for an organization that effectively partners with the business aviation community to help so many people in need each year." Also in attendance at the event were lawmakers including Rep. Allen Boyd (D-2-FL), co-founder of the GA Caucus.
