Washington, DC, May 17, 2001 - On May 1, RTCA honored William H. "Bill" Stine II, National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) director, international operations, with an award in recognition of his work on documents developed by an RTCA committee he has chaired since 1991. This committee has been charged with developing Minimum Operating Performance Specifications (MOPS) and Minimum Aeronautical Systems Performance Specifications (MASPS) for advanced VHF digital data communications, including compatibility with digital voice techniques. RTCA Chairman John O’Brien presented the award to Stine at a luncheon following the RTCA Annual Spring Symposium in Washington, DC.

NBAA President Jack Olcott noted that "Bill Stine is a most deserving honoree of RTCA’s recognition for the outstanding work he has done for almost a decade. He does an excellent job representing NBAA and he is a credit to the community."

Since 1979, Stine has been NBAA’s spokesman on matters involving international business aviation, communications, navigation and surveillance. He is Staff Liaison for NBAA’s International Operators Committee and publisher of the NBAA International Operations Bulletin.

RTCA, Inc. (previously the Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics) develops industry standards for aircraft and ground equipment as an official FAA Advisory Committee. All such standards are a product of industry consensus, and NBAA historically has represented business aviation in many varied RTCA activities.

NBAA represents the aviation interests of over 6,500 companies which own or operate general aviation aircraft as an aid to the conduct of their business, or are involved with business aviation. NBAA Member Companies earn annual revenues approaching $5 trillion — a number that is about half the gross domestic product — and employ more than 19 million people worldwide. The NBAA Annual Meeting & Convention is the world's largest display of civil aviation products and services.
