Washington, DC, May 22, 2001 - The featured entertainment for this year’s National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Awards Banquet is comedy and musical team The Smothers Brothers, who performed at a previous NBAA Convention to rave reviews.

The Smothers Brothers have entertained audiences throughout the world for more than 42 years, most recently appearing on last week’s David Letterman show. Their timeless comedic and musical talents brought them fame through their own prime-time comedy series, numerous guest television appearances, 12 albums, their own video, and coast-to-coast engagements and concerts, some with symphony orchestras. Tom and Dick Smothers’ first professional appearance was at The Purple Onion in San Francisco in 1959, and their first national television appearance was on The Jack Paar Show in 1961.

Tom and Dick Smothers were born in New York City and attended San Jose State University in California. Their enduring appeal as a comedic team has brought them fame and honor, including a Museum of Broadcasting retrospective and seminar on their work and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour is studied in universities across the country as an important factor in the revolutionary changes undergone in the United States during the 1960s.

The 2001 NBAA Awards Banquet will be held on Thursday, September 20 at the close of the Association’s 54th Annual Meeting & Convention in New Orleans. For more information, visit www.nbaa.org/2001.
