FAA to Conduct Industry Meetings in Conjunction with NBAA

Contact: Cassandra Bosco

Washington, DC, October 3, 2003 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) is assisting the FAA with logistical details for a series of training sessions designed to explain to the FAA regional staff and industry the newly-released Fractional Aircraft Ownership Programs and On-Demand Operations final rule.

FAA staff will meet with current fractional providers and on-demand charter operators for an in-depth review of the new and revised FARs, the policy behind the rules, FAA's guidance for the rules and how the FAA will oversee the rules. The meetings will be held in Baltimore, MD. Registration for the program is open only to these segments of the industry. On a space-available basis, representatives interested in creating a fractional program and other interested industry participants (e.g., members of the press, attorneys) may attend. NBAA will manage the registration process for the FAA. A registration form is available via the NBAA web site at www.nbaa.org/subpartk/faa.

The program dates for designated FAA regions are as follows:
  • October 22–23: Great Lakes & Southwest
  • October 29–30: Eastern & Southern
  • November 5–6: Central, New England, Northwest Mountain, Alaskan, Western-Pacific
Attendees are strongly encouraged to attend the FAA seminar based on their targeted FAA region, which will ensure that fractional provider staff members have an opportunity to interact directly with their regional/FSDO staff. This interaction will enable participants to address and resolve questions and concerns surrounding these new rules in conjunction with their local FSDO staff.

NBAA supports the FAA's efforts to educate FAA staff, fractional aircraft operators, and the on-demand charter industry on the regulations, which were published in the Federal Register on September 17, 2003. To download a copy in PDF format, visit  the NBAA web site at web.nbaa.org/public/ops/fractional.

NBAA represents the aviation interests of more than 7,300 companies that own or operate general aviation aircraft as an aid to the conduct of their business, or are involved with business aviation. NBAA Member Companies earn annual revenues approaching $5 trillion — a number that is about half the gross domestic product — and employ more than 19 million people worldwide. The NBAA Annual Meeting & Convention is the world's largest display of civil aviation products and services.
