NBAA Silk Scarf Award Given to FAA's Perfetti

ORLANDO, FL, October 19, 2006 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) has awarded Katherine Perfetti the Silk Scarf Award, which is traditionally given to individuals in recognition of special contributions to the business aviation community. The award was presented by NBAA Vice President, Safety & Regulation Douglas Carr during the Meet the Regulators Session today at the NBAA 59th Annual Meeting & Convention.

Throughout her career with the FAA, Perfetti has always considered and responded to the input and concerns of the business aviation community. She first joined the FAA in 1978 as an aviation safety inspector. She spent 13 years in the Kansas City and St. Louis field offices before transferring to the FAA's Washington, DC headquarters in 1990. She has served in numerous positions in FAA headquarters, including management positions in the Air Transportation and General Aviation Divisions.

Perfetti has represented the FAA on numerous high-level programs and has been responsible for significant safety initiatives for both the air carrier and general aviation segments of the aviation industry. She managed and implemented numerous rulemaking projects, including the commuter rule, Fractional Ownership Aviation Rulemaking Committee and the Parts 135/125 Aviation Rulemaking Committee. In addition, she holds an airline transport pilot certificate with several ratings for aircraft operated in the national transportation system.
