Washington, DC, December 18, 2008 – National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) President and CEO Ed Bolen today issued the following statement concerning President-elect Barack Obama’s nomination of Rep. Ray LaHood (R-18-IL) as Secretary of the Department of Transportation:
"Representative LaHood is widely recognized as an effective public servant, with a solid grasp of transportation policy, as demonstrated by his work on the House Appropriations Committee.
"NBAA congratulates him on his nomination as Transportation Secretary, and we look forward to working with him to continually strengthen and transform the nation's aviation system, so that it remains the world's largest, safest and most efficient."
Rep. LaHood's nomination requires confirmation by the U.S. Senate. NBAA will keep Members advised of that process as it unfolds.
