Despite Economic Turbulence, Data Show NBAA2009 Remains Industry's Most Valued Event
NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen today said as the 62nd Annual Meeting & Convention (NBAA2009) drew to a close, the show again proved to be an essential venue for the business aviation community, in spite of the formidable headwinds the industry has endured in the past year. Charity Benefit Raises $168,000 to Support Life-Saving CAN Missions
NBAA today announced that $168,000 was raised at the NBAA/CAN Charity Benefit held during this week's Convention, with the proceeds going to Corporate Angel Network (CAN). Based in White Plains, NY, CAN is the only charitable organization in the United States whose sole mission is to ease the emotional stress, physical discomfort and financial burden of travel for cancer patients by arranging free flights to treatment centers, using the empty seats on business aircraft. National Aviation Hall of Fame Honors NBAA
The National Aviation Hall of Fame (NAHF) presented its Milton Caniff Spirit of Flight Award, presented annually to a group or organization that has made a significant contribution to America's aviation heritage. The organization also presented its 2009 Combs Gates Award to Sarah Byrn Rickman during NBAA2009 this week. During the Combs Gates Award ceremonies, NAHF Executive Director Ron Kaplan also announced that his organization would honor both NBAA and business aviation pioneer Clay Lacy at Hall of Fame induction ceremonies in 2010. NBAA Opens Doors to Florida's Business Aviation Community
NBAA today welcomed Florida-based business aviation professionals and students considering aviation careers with free admission to the Convention for exciting career development and networking opportunities. As part of NBAA's "Florida Aviation Day" programming, the Association provided presentations to groups of students and aviation professionals, who learned about potential scholarships, internships and careers in business aviation. Attendees Learn About Workers' Comp Program at NBAA2009
NBAA's new Workers' Compensation Insurance Program launched on May 1, providing the Association's operating Members exclusive access to affordable coverage at reduced rates. Administered by NationAir and underwritten by Phoenix Aviation Managers, policies cover everyone involved with a company's flight operation. NBAA Recognizes Record Number of 30 New CAMs This Year
NBAA has announced 30 individuals who successfully passed the Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) exam during the September 2008 through September 2009 period. Through the certification process, NBAA and the Certified Aviation Manager Governing Board seek to raise the level of professionalism and quality of management within flight departments. Operators Share SMS Experiences
Speakers at a session covering safety management systems (SMSs) at NBAA2009 told Attendees that development and implementation of an SMS does not have to be an onerous task. In fact, it can yield substantial tangible benefits, not only in terms of heightened safety and lower insurance premiums, but the process itself can foster teamwork among flight department management and staff as they work together to make safety everyone’s job.
