Traffic Flow Management Web Resources

The FAA has provided a number of very useful online resources to allow operators to be proactive in understanding the operation of the National Airspace System (NAS) on any given day. Understanding and using these tools will allow operators to have a much better picture of what is happening around them and what to expect as their flights progress.

Operational Information System (OIS)
The OIS, at www.fly.faa.gov/ois, is a web site managed by the ARTSCC that provides current information to customers about the status of the NAS. Learn more about this resource.
Advisories
An advisory is a message that is disseminated electronically by the ARTSCC or ARTCC containing information pertaining to the NAS. US and Canadian advisories for the current day, as well as for the previous 14 days, can be accessed at http://www.fly.faa.gov/adv/advADB.jsp.
Operations Plan/Planning Telcon
The planning telcon is a planning telephone conference hosted every two hours by the ATCSCC. The purpose of this conference is to identify contraints to the NAS during the six hours following each call. Learm more about the Operations Plan/Planning Telcon.
Collaborative Convective Forecast Product (CCFP)
The CCFP is a forecast for intense convection activity that is updated every 2 hours and made for 2, 4, and 6-hour periods by a group consisting of the National Weather Service (NWS), the customers, ARTCC weather units, and the Canadian meteorological service of Canada.  Learn more about the CCFP.
National Playbook
The National Playbook is a collection of Severe Weather Avoidance Plan (SWAP) routes that have been pre-validated and coordinated with impacted air route traffic control centers (ARTCCs).  They may be used in support of convective weather, military operations, and other situations.  Learn more about the National Playbook.
Current Restrictions
To help manage en route air traffic, traffic managers utilize several types of restrictions, including miles-in-trail, minutes-in-trail, time based metering (TMA), and speed restrictions. The Current Restrictions page allows operators to view these restrictions in real-time.
Current Reroutes
This FAA web resource lists the current reroutes in the NAS.
