Washington, DC, Jan. 10, 2025 – As the U.S. Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee prepares to consider President-elect Donald Trump’s nomination of Sean Duffy as secretary of transportation, the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) today called for Duffy’s prompt confirmation to the position.

“Business aviation is critical link in our nation’s transportation system and a vital engine for our economy,” NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen said. “NBAA recognizes the imperative of strong leadership at the Department of Transportation. We urge swift confirmation of Sean Duffy to the position of secretary of transportation.”

Duffy’s nomination hearing is scheduled for Jan. 15.

In a recent statement, NBAA pointed to Duffy’s qualifications for the position, including experience in working with lawmakers from both sides of the aisle as a former member of Congress, and navigating complex legislative processes. NBAA also noted that while serving in Wisconsin’s largely rural seventh district in the House of Representatives, Duffy gained a firsthand perspective on the essential role of general aviation in areas without airline access.
