NBAA honored longtime NBAA volunteer and industry advocate Debbi Laux, candidate service manager at Aviation Personnel International, with its Silk Scarf Award at the 2022 NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE).
“As a professional who found her way into business aviation through an FBO in Scottsdale, Arizona, Debbi Laux has left her mark on this industry,” said Sheryl Barden, CAM, a member of the NBAA Advisory Council and president and CEO of Aviation Personnel International. “But the most inspiring and incredible quality that is the foundation on which she has built her legacy, is the desire to make a positive impact on every person she meets, especially young people interested in aviation careers.”
Prior to API, Laux spent more than 20 years at MedAire, Inc., where she held progressive roles and ended her tenure as the company’s trade relations director.
Laux serves on the NBAA International Operators Committee and has supported the group’s annual conference in many ways, including assisting in creating and implementing the Navigator Program pairing experienced professionals with first time attendees to orient and introduce them to the industry and its members.
A member of the NBAA Schedulers & Dispatchers (S&D) Advisory Council, Laux also is the chair and founder of S&D’s “Pay It Forward” community professional clothing drive, which since its founding has donated more than 3,000 garments to those in need.
Additionally, she was a six-year member of the NBAA Safety Committee.
Laux also served as president of the Arizona Business Aviation Association.
“Debbi Laux is a shining example of a business aviation professional who makes a positive impact within our community wherever she sees an opportunity,” said NBAA Senior Vice President Education, Training and Workforce Development Jo Damato. “She has always led with action and compassion and inspired others to do the same. “
