Greg Voos

Greg Voos may be NBAA’s newest regional representative, but he’s been advocating for business aviation for years. With FBO and avionics expertise, and 10 years with Home Depot’s flight department, combined with his credentials as a Certified Aviation Manager and an International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations auditor, Voos has brought both dedication and know-how to his work to represent the interests of business aircraft operators.

As NBAA’s Southeast regional representative, whose territory includes Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia, Voos has found that his strong operational background brings instant credibility to his advocacy efforts.

Listening to Members’ concerns and addressing their needs is Voos’ No. 1 priority. As he crisscrosses his region, attending meetings, airport events, safety days, legislative hearings and more, Voos invariably takes an extra couple hours out of his day to meet with local NBAA Members. “They’ll often give me a tour and we can talk one-on-one in-depth,” said Voos. “It’s great, because I get a ground-level view of what’s going on.”

In his 15 months at NBAA, Voos has repeatedly traveled to each of his nine states and DC. Getting to know the key individuals who impact general aviation in the Southeast has been important to him, as well as identifying the many varying issues affecting operators in the region.

“From an operator standpoint, Greg really ‘gets it,’” said Jeff Agur, board chairman of the Georgia Business Aviation Association. “As a former manager in a large aviation department, he understands what is most important to NBAA operating members and how to communicate that effectively.”

One of Voos’ first accomplishments was working with the Florida Aviation Business Association (FABA), South Florida Business Aviation Association (SFBAA) and other groups to get an aircraft sales tax exemption passed by the Florida legislature.

“Greg is an active supporter and participant in FABA,” said Jenny Showalter, the group’s executive director. “Whether attending our annual conference, joining us in Tallahassee to meet with legislators, or assisting with special legislative initiatives, Greg is an integral member of FABA’s extended team.”

“Greg’s knowledge and understanding of the industry allows him to keep up with all areas of concern, and his willingness to get involved has been crucial to keeping the line of communication open between NBAA and the local groups,” said SFBAA President Jeff Ramsden.

Voos was also instrumental in the recent formation of the Tennessee Business Aviation Association. In South Carolina, he was an integral part of the legislative effort that earlier this summer resulted in the extension of the parts and supplies sales tax exemption to include general aviation.

With a large territory and so many issues affecting business aircraft operators, Voos &ndash like all NBAA regional representatives – is continually busy. Yet NBAA Members in his region shouldn’t be surprised if he shows up in their hangar or office, wanting to meet them and hear their concerns first-hand.
