NBAA Emerging Technologies Committee

Emerging aviation technologies like unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), advanced air mobility (AAM), unmanned traffic management (UTM), commercial space, other future technologies and associated infrastructure represent significant opportunities for member companies. NBAA recognizes the importance of this new environment and associated technologies and has established the Emerging Technologies Committee. The aviation professionals who make up this committee will help drive the future of aviation safety and policy.

The Emerging Technologies Committee will also consider autonomous operations, electric propulsion and other innovative technology and specifically, the integration of these new technologies into the National Airspace System (NAS). The committee will provide insights that allow NBAA to advocate on behalf of industry on rulemaking, standards setting and policy-related activities. It will also conduct educational and training sessions for NBAA members and represent the industry by liaising with industry organizations and regulators in the U.S. and globally.

• Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS)
  Review the latest news regarding the development of UAS, and NBAA’s work with industry representatives and federal officials to safely integrate UAS into the National Airspace System.
• Advanced Air Mobility (AAM)
  AAM, also known as urban air mobility (UAM), is a new concept of air transportation using electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft to move people and cargo between places not currently or easily served by surface transportation or existing aviation modes.
• Commercial Space
  Commercial space flight is on the near horizon with key milestones accomplished over the past couple of years. It is critical that NBAA and its members actively engage new industry segments to ensure safe integration with existing flight operations, while encouraging innovation and new technology.
