Runway Closures Associated with SFO Runway Construction Begin April 7

Runway and taxiway closures at San Francisco International Airport (SFO), associated with the Runway 28L/10R overlay and reconstruction project, are expected to begin Friday, April 7. The project is scheduled to last through July 2017, with multiple weekend closures expected in addition to nightly week-day closures. Complete details regarding the phasing of the project to include planned closure dates and times are listed below. All times are local.

SFO Runway 10R/28L Overlay and Reconstruction of Taxiway S and Construction of F2

Phase 1: Completed March 2017
Phase 2: Runway overlay at Taxiway Q

Runway 28L/10R closed from now through Monday, April 3 at noon (1900z).

Phase 3: Runway overlay at Taxiways K, D and T

Runway 28L/10R closed Friday, April 21 at 6 p.m. (22/0100z) through Monday, April 24 at noon (1900z).

Phase 4 : Runway overlay at Taxiway E

Runway 28L/10R closed April 28 at 6 p.m. (29/0100z) through May 01 at noon (1900z).

Phase 5: Runway overlay at Runways 19R/1L and 28L/10R and Taxiway J

Runway 28L/10R and Runway 19R/1L closed April 28 at 11:59 p.m. (29/0659z) through April 30 at noon (1900z).

Phase 6A – Runway overlay at Runway 1R

Runway 28L/10R closed as needed for two nights the week of May 1 – week nights only between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.

Phase 6B – Runway overlay at Runways 19R/1L and 28L/10R

Runway 28L/10R and Runway 19R/1L closed May 5 from 11:59 p.m. (06/0659z) through May 7 at noon (1900z).

Phase 7: Runway overlay at Taxiway L and P

Runway 28L/10R closed May 12 at 6 p.m. (13/0100z) through May 15 at noon (1900z).

Phase 8: Runway overlay at Taxiway N

Runway 28L/10R closed May 19 at 6 p.m. (20/0100z) through May 22 at noon (1900z).

Phase 9: (Part 1 of 2): Taxiway F2 (Northern), Taxiway S and Utilities

Runway 28L/10R closed June 2 at 6 p.m. (03/0100z) through June 5 at noon (1900z).

Phase 9: (Part 2 of 2) – Taxiway F2 (Northern), Taxiway S and Utilities

Runway 28L/10R closed June 9 at 6 p.m. (10/0100z) through June 12 at noon (1900z).

Phase 10: Taxiway F2 (Southern)

Taxiway F from Taxiway N to Taxiway C from June 5 at 8 a.m.(1500z) through June 9 at 4 p.m. (2300z).

Phase 11: Ongoing work through the project

• Grooving, airfield lighting and runway safety lights installation and testing
• Closure of two taxiways at a time, and Runway 28L/10R as needed
• Weeknights only between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. (April 2-July 10)
