Sept. 6, 2017

As the business aviation community takes part in relief flights to areas impacted by Hurricane Harvey, operators should review the following information to ensure flights are conducted safely and to make resources reach the people who need them most.

Airport and Airspace Information

The FAA has issued multiple TFRs covering a large portion of the Houston and nearby airspace: 7/3416, 7/3988 and 7/4182, as well as 7/4070 for Beaumont Texas Airport (KBPT) airspace. Flight operations are permitted, as long as the operator has been issued a transponder code. IFR flights and VFR flights utilizing flight following will already have a code and should have no airspace issues flying into the affected region. Other operations should coordinate access to the TFR by calling local FAA airspace coordinators at 512-782-1313 or 512-782-5447.

Required reroutes may be issued to route traffic around Houston Center (ZHU) and for traffic into other airports within ZHU. These reroutes will be issued, cancelled and amended as needed depending on traffic volume and staffing levels at the facilities. NBAA strongly recommend that operators review current airport and airspace NOTAMS for the latest information on current airport conditions.
