TSA Waiver Information

A TSA special event waiver will be required for operations during the TFR for both arrivals and departures at AGC and PIT.

Aircraft arriving PIT and AGC during the TFR must apply for an FAA/TSA special event waiver and be security screened at the gateway airport (see below).

North Central West Virginia Airport (CKB) in Clarksburg, WV has been designated as the gateway airport for this event. Aircraft must register for gateway access at least 96 hours prior to the planned flight. TSA screening will be available at CKB on September 24 from 1500-2000 local and on September 25 from 0800-1900 local.

Aircraft departing PIT or AGC during the TFR must apply for an FAA/TSA special event waiver at least 96 hours prior to the planned flight and be security screened prior to departure. Waivers can be obtained by visiting the TSA/FAA Waiver & Airspace Access Program and selecting the special event waiver. All applications must be submitted at least 96 hours prior to the aircraft departure.

For more information about obtaining TSA waivers, visit the TSA Office of Airspace Waivers.

Gateway Airport Information

To accommodate aircraft arriving into Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) and Allegheny County Airport (AGC), a gateway airport has been established by TSA at North Central West Virginia Airport (CKB).

During the effective times of the TFR, TSA security screening will be available at PIT and AGC (outbound) and at CKB (inbound). TSA screening will be available at CKB on September 24 from 1500-2000 local and on September 25 from 0800-1900 local.

All passengers and crewmembers must provide government-issued photo identification to the TSA at the gateway airport prior to departure. Aircraft must register for gateway access at least 96 hours prior to a planned flight. Aircraft departing PIT or AGC during this TFR must also register and undergo security screening prior to departure.

Special ATC procedures and routes to and from these airports may be assigned prior to departure from a gateway airport. Upon departing the gateway airport, all aircraft must maintain radio contact with ATC and continuously squawk an ATC-assigned discrete transponder code. Intermediate stops are not authorized unless an emergency exists.
