The FAA is relaunching its $500 ADS-B rebate program, making $4,900,000 available to help fund ADS-B Out installations. The rebate is available through Oct. 11, 2019, or until funds are exhausted.

U.S.-registered, fixed-wing, single-engine piston aircraft not already equipped with compliant ADS-B equipment are eligible for the rebate.

“NBAA encourages eligible members to participate in the rebate program,” said Doug Carr, NBAA’s vice president of regulatory and international affairs. “Rule-compliant ADS-B Out solutions exist for every make and model of aircraft expected to operate in rule airspace. Eligible operators should finalize their equipment selection and schedule their installation visit as soon as possible.”

The FAA issued more than 10,000 payments in its previous rebate program, which ran from Sept. 19, 2016, to Sept. 18, 2017.

“Much of the business aviation community has planned ahead for ADS-B compliance; however, any aircraft owner or operator who does not have a reservation for installation scheduled prior to Dec. 31, 2019, should contact their repair station immediately,” said Carr. “Shop time, equipment and parts will become more difficult to secure as the Jan. 1, 2020, deadline approaches. There will be no extension to the FAA’s deadline. Aircraft owners and operators must make arrangements now.”
