NBAA has long-supported industry efforts to develop reliable and marketable electric propulsion solutions that hold the potential to revolutionize business aviation, not only in the field of advanced air mobility (AAM) vehicles for urban and regional transportation, but longer-range business aircraft designs as well.

Dozens of companies are currently developing powerful and efficient electric motors and lightweight, high energy-density batteries that would deliver comparable range estimates as existing petroleum-fueled aircraft. Ongoing research and flight testing are also underway using aircraft powered by advanced fuel cell technology that converts the chemical energy of hydrogen to cleanly and efficiently produce electricity.

Read more about these and other near-term aircraft propulsion solutions that promise to further enhance the environmental sustainability of the industry, reduce carbon and noise emissions and help business aviation in its goal to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
