International business travelers seeking simplified entry into the United States will again have the opportunity to meet with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents at NBAA’s Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA2015) as part of a required interview for enrollment in CBP’s Global Entry program. This is the agency’s third year of partnering with NBAA to offer this service.
Global Entry allows expedited clearance processing into the U.S. for pre-approved, low-risk travelers using automated kiosks available at nearly 60 locations, including many U.S. airports and a number of international locations.
“CBP, like many other federal agencies, is looking to increase efficiencies,” said Sarah Wolf, NBAA’s senior manager of security and facilitation. “Global Entry is one program proven to increase efficiency for both the agency and international travelers. We are pleased CBP will participate in NBAA2015 to encourage enrollment in this successful program.”
The Global Entry program is popular with international business travelers. Approved participants may present their machine-readable passport or U.S. permanent resident card at an automated kiosk. Upon further verification of the traveler’s identity and submission of a customs declaration, the kiosk issues a transaction receipt and directs the traveler to a baggage claim and the exit from an airport’s customs processing center.
U.S. citizens approved under Global Entry are also eligible to participate in the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA’s) PreCheck initiative, which enables expedited screening at TSA checkpoints at many domestic airports.
Those interested in arranging a CBP interview at NBAA2015 must apply through the Global Entry website. First-time users will be required to create an account with the Global Online Enrollment System (GOES), and a $100 non-refundable processing fee is due when submitting the on-line application. Applicants will be notified through GOES that they are “conditionally approved” for Global Entry and may sign up for an interview. NBAA2015 attendees should select the “NBAA Conference” location to schedule their interview during the convention. Applicants must apply through the website listed above by Oct. 23. Interviews will be conducted on Tuesday, Nov. 17, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and more days may be added if needed.
