NBAA’s safety education efforts are an ongoing effort focused on initiatives that foster a culture where safe procedures and policies are constantly maintained and improved upon. For more than 10 years, NBAA’s partnership with the annual Bombardier Safety Standdown has contributed greatly to this effort.

NBAA is a sponsor of the 23rd annual Bombardier Safety Standdown, scheduled for Nov. 12-14, at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel in Fort Worth, TX. Safety Standdown 2019 will discuss setting safety standards, with several industry experts presenting sessions designed to promote knowledge-based training to reduce the number of accidents due to human error.

“Safety is a journey, not a destination,” said Mark Larsen, CAM, NBAA senior manager, safety and flight operations. “The Bombardier Safety Standdown is a significant event from NBAA’s vantage point in the sense that it elevates the value of safety, with a strong focus on human factors and professionalism. It is made available to the industry as a whole without a registration fee; you do not have to be a Bombardier customer or fly Bombardier aircraft to attend.”

The Safety Standdown brings value to anyone engaged in the business of aviation, said Shelley Cox, Bombardier’s coordinator for the program.

“We usually have over 450 attendees each year that are a mix of flight and cabin crews, maintenance technicians and managers,” she said. This year, we have increased our outreach to younger emerging leaders in the industry by contacting universities and flight schools to make sure they know the details of the 2019 Standdown.”

Information, registration and links to watch live webcasts from the three-day 2019 Bombardier Safety Standdown seminar can be accessed via the event’s website.

“Safety is not proprietary to any one company, and because everybody in business aviation can benefit, NBAA is proud to be a sponsor and partner for the event,” added Larsen.
