The Flight Safety Foundation’s (FSF’s) 2015 Business Aviation Safety Summit (BASS) – which has long been supported by NBAA, and takes place this year at the Bonaventure Resort and Spa in Weston, FL, on May 13 and 14 – will feature a number of timely panel discussions and speaker sessions focusing on business aviation safety, as well as exhibits from companies all over the world.

Formerly known as the Corporate Aviation Safety Seminar, BASS – which is traditionally FSF’s largest safety event of the year – has long been recognized as a highly valued forum for the discussion and exchange of safety information among business aircraft operators. This year’s topics include an update on the Aviation Safety Information Analysis and Sharing (ASIAS) program, what to do about lithium battery overheating and fires, an overview of unmanned aircraft systems and a discussion about the impact of real-time data on safety and training.

There will also be workshops on pilot fitness for duty assessments, ways to enhance safety management systems, how to build a positive safety culture and methodologies for mitigating fatigue risks in flight scheduling.

“With more than 50 percent of our members from business aviation, this is one of our most important events of the year,” said FSF President and CEO Jon Beatty. “NBAA is a key contributor on our Business Advisory Committee, which develops the BASS agenda. Between the two of us, I believe we really are in tune with the business aviation community.”

NBAA has long supported BASS and its mission.

“This is one of the business aviation industry’s premier safety events, an annual tradition and a platform for safety information that’s vital to all aspects of our operations,” said Mark Larsen, NBAA’s senior manager for safety and flight operations.
