Air BP is offering free fuel to England- and Wales-based air ambulance charitable services in support of their life-saving work during the COVID-19 crisis.

Four helicopter air ambulance operators – Great Western Air Ambulance Charity, Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, Wales Air Ambulance Charity and Yorkshire Air Ambulance – will receive free fuel until at least April 30.

According to its website, Great Western Air Ambulance Charity estimates its annual fuel cost to be £50,000, meaning a potential savings of about £4,167 ($5,210) to the charitable organization, which operates entirely on donations. The organization says callouts are down in April, perhaps due in part to government advice to stay at home.

“We are pleased to be able to play a small part and support these emergency service organizations as they continue to provide critical service to communities in these difficult times,” said Jon Platt, Air BP’s CEO. “Our commitment to safe, reliable fueling operations remains unwavering, and we’re grateful for the hard work of our frontline Air BP operators who continue to enable us to meet the needs of our customers.”
