NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen will represent the business aviation community in an upcoming Safety Summit being convened by the FAA.
Bolen will take part in a morning opening panel moderated by FAA Acting Administrator Billy Nolen and Robert Sumwalt, executive director of Embry-Riddle’s Center for Aviation and Aerospace Safety and former National Transportation Safety Board chair.
Bolen also will be part of an afternoon breakout session specifically focused on general aviation. NBAA staff will participate in each of the day’s other breakout sessions.
“We appreciate the opportunity to be a part of the FAA Safety Summit and work with aviation stakeholders to ensure the U.S. remains the global leader in aviation safety,” said Bolen. “Safety requires vigilance, a supportive culture and collaboration among all stakeholders, including the business aviation community.”
In recent testimony before a congressional hearing on reauthorization for the FAA, Bolen outlined business aviation’s legacy of safety leadership and detailed specific ways to ensure safety remains the “north star” guiding the industry’s future.
“Safety has been integral to everything we do, on the ground and in the air,” Bolen stated before the U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. “Because of this continued, comprehensive focus on innovative approaches to safety, aviation is the safest mode of transportation.”
