Sometimes success is only an opportunity away. For Anthony DiBiase, an NBAA Schedulers & Dispatchers (S&D) Monetary Scholarship proved to be that opportunity.

DiBiase, Flight Operations Coordinator for Dow Corning, is using his $8,000 scholarship to complete a bachelor’s degree in aviation business administration at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University that will allow him to take the next step in his career.

The award has not only changed his career outlook but has also made him a more effective leader in his current role at Dow Corning. “[It’s] helped to polish my working habits and traits, and has been important to help me succeed within our fight department,” he said.

When asked if he had any advice for those considering applying for a scholarship for the first time, DiBiase enthusiastically recommended that potential applicants take the plunge. “It’s not only the right thing to do, but it will also open the door to an aviation opportunity that will change your life forever,” he said. “Applying for a scholarship not only shows your employer that you are engaged in the industry but you’re committed to improving your skills, which will make you a better employee and aviation professional.”

Even as he excels at his job, DiBiase is making long-term plans to build on his success. Once he has finished his studies in 2018, he’s setting his aim at the NBAA Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) program with the ultimate goal of becoming an aviation director.
