Careers in Business Aviation Day

Students and faculty are invited to the 2017 Careers in Business Aviation Day, held on Thursday, Oct. 12 during the annual Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE) in Las Vegas, NV.

NBAA recognizes the value in exposing students to our global industry and inspiring them to pursue successful and rewarding aviation careers. As the world’s largest and most important business aviation event of the year showcases in Las Vegas, we encourage middle school, high school and college students, as well as their school’s faculty and chaperones, to join us for a day of student-focused programming and opportunities, including access to 1,100 exhibitors and over 100 aircraft on static display.

NBAA welcomes Dreams Soar founder and pilot Shaesta Waiz back to the show for what promises to be an inspiring presentation of her recent solo flight around the world to promote STEM education and aviation careers. Shaesta made the 25,000 nautical mile journey in a single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza crossing 5 continents and touching the lives and hearts of thousands of young students. Her mission: encourage and empower students around the world to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams, regardless of challenges or traditions they may face.

Shaesta, who presented her plans for the global STEM outreach flight at last year’s 2016 Career Day in Orlando, shared her story of growing up in a refugee camp to becoming the first civilian female pilot from Afghanistan. Upon her return to the U.S. in September 2017 she will become the first female pilot from Afghanistan to fly solo around the world, and the youngest female to do so in a single-engine aircraft.

College/University Roundtable

In partnership with the University Aviation Association (UAA), NBAA offers college and university students an opportunity to connect directly with business aviation industry leaders to learn more about career paths, discuss professional goals and get advice on how to best prepare for a rewarding career. Flight department managers, pilots, schedulers, maintenance professionals, HR personnel, recruiters and many other industry experts will be available to speak with students in this roundtable networking session.

Admission

Admission to Thursday’s Careers in Business Aviation Day is free for all registered students, faculty and chaperones. College and university students currently enrolled in a UAA-member school also qualify for complimentary access to all three days of NBAA-BACE. Those students should contact faculty advisors or the UAA directly to obtain the free registration code.
