Participants will compare their perspective on organizational risk vs. an industry benchmark and identify as many organizational risks as they can via a small group exercise.

8:30-8:40 a.m. History of Risk Management

Gain an understanding of how risk management has evolved, including a focus on the importance of internal communications and avoiding a solo approach to risk mitigation.

8:40-10 a.m. Identifying and Categorizing Risks Facing the Organization

An enterprise risk management approach leads to awareness of potential risks across the organization. From a business aviation perspective, examples include:

  • a corporate structure change – that impacts the registration of the aircraft
  • strategic growth opportunities – that impact fleet planning
  • aircraft valuation changes in a volatile market – that impacts company financials

This session will introduce strategies on awareness of organizational risks and discuss specific how to categorize them:

  • Awareness of Organizational Risks
  • Security Risks
  • Financial and Competitive Risks
  • Reputational Risks
  • Tax Compliance Risks
  • Regulatory Compliance Risks
  • Civil Liability Risks

1-2:45 p.m. Risk Scenarios

Review and discuss a series of scenarios that emphasize the principles of risk. Instructors will provide tools that can used to categorize the severity and means of response to types of risks. In small groups, attendees will discuss these scenarios that demonstrates a variety of organizational risks. scenarios will cover the following risk exposures:

  • Civil
  • Regulatory
  • Financial
  • Tax
  • Reputational
2:45-3:15 p.m Afternoon Break
3:15-3:45 p.m. Risk Management Planning Structure

This session will present methods for participants to identify their organization’s existing risk management planning structure, ascertain what risk management planning and tools exist within overall organization, determine with whom to coordinate, and work with the applicable individuals to properly address the aviation risks within the organization’s planning.

3:45-4:30 p.m. Updating Organizational Risk Management Strategies and Ongoing Risk Review Process

As illustrated during the risk scenarios, a company’s risk exposure changes over time as business needs evolve or otherwise change. Participants will craft guidelines that they can review and update as risks change over time.

4:30-5 p.m Summarize & Course Concludes
