First-Ever NBAA-BACE Career Fair Unveiled Amidst Historic Workforce Shortage Projections
Aug. 23, 2023
One of the biggest challenges confronting the business aviation community is the coming shortage of professionals, across the spectrum of available careers. The industry is aging, and the need for young professionals, pilots and those in maintenance, manufacturing, engineering and other specialties, has skyrocketed.
Available data illuminate this challenge – for example, aerospace company Boeing projects a need for 602,000 civil aviation pilots and 610,000 aviation technicians over the next 20 years. Similarly, flight-simulation manufacturer and training provider CAE predicts in its 2023 Aviation Talent Forecast that 1.3 million civil aviation professionals will be needed in the next 10 years.
To help the business aviation community attract, retain and foster the next generation of workforce leaders, NBAA is hosting its inaugural Career Fair at the 2023 NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE) in Las Vegas, NV. Taking place Oct. 18, from 1-5 p.m. and Oct. 19 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., more than a dozen companies are expected to host recruiting stations for the event.
“We are excited to connect our exhibitors who are interested in bringing their recruiters onsite to the Career Fair at NBAA-BACE,” said Jo Damato, CAM, NBAA senior vice president, education, training and workforce development. “They’ll have the opportunity to engage with college-aged students, attendees already working in business aviation and other job seekers, including those making the mid-career transition from the military.”
As an extension of the NBAA Career Center, a leading online career resource for business aviation professionals and employers, the in-person NBAA-BACE networking event will allow employers to meet face-to-face with the industry’s best and brightest. The Career Fair is designed as a networking platform and a chance for job seekers to learn more about the career opportunities that are available in the industry and are often unique to it.
The event is open to anyone attending the show who is searching for a new job or career in business aviation.
“All are welcome as long as they are registered attendees,” said Damato. “If they register in advance online, they can upload their résumés and connect with recruiters virtually as well.”
