Virginia-based Electra is leading the way in direct aviation, building hybrid-electric Ultra Short airplanes that take off and land in less than 150 feet, and transport up to nine passengers or 2,500 lbs. of cargo on routes up to 500 nautical miles.
Joby Aviation
California-based Joby Aviation is building an all-electric, vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, which it intends to operate as part of a fast, quiet and convenient global passenger service, connecting people around the world.
Lilium
Germany’s Lilium, a leading electric aircraft manufacturer, is currently building a fully electric jet that takes off and lands vertically, can carry six passengers and is designed for regional and intercity distances.
