Navigating Civilian Careers: What Business Aviation Employers Really Want
Location: Las Vegas Convention Center West Hall, Room W218
Job seekers with a military background may have heard some myths about business aviation – just as there are plenty of misunderstandings about servicemembers transitioning to civilian life. In fact, however, it’s often a good fit. Pick apart the assumptions and get the facts from this panel of military-turned-corporate aircrew and maintainers alongside business aviation talent managers. The moderator is a recent Air Force retiree and former commander of the 89th Operations Group, mentors transitioning military pilots, flight attendants and maintenance specialists. Business aviation employers are eager to recruit top military talent, and this session explores how to make it happen.
Military Meetup
Location: Las Vegas Convention Center West Hall, NBAA Connection Zone, Booth 672
Transitioning military personnel can connect with NBAA volunteer leaders and explore civilian business aviation careers. This session will cover resources such as the NBAA Jobs Board, mentorship opportunities and other essential career support. Participants will choose from four specialized career paths to network with current NBAA members in those fields: operations/aircrew, maintenance, operations support (including ATC, airfield operations, training, records, logistical support and specialized niches like communications), and additional specialties. The event includes networking, a Q&A session and exhibit floor tours to engage directly with industry exhibitors relevant to each career category.
NBAA Career Zone
Location: Las Vegas Convention Center West Hall, Booth 4269
Military attendees are encouraged to spend time at the NBAA Career Zone on Wednesday afternoon between other events. The Career Zone includes meeting with recruiters at the Career Fair, engaging with a business aviation career coach, learning about scholarship resources to help professionals with a mid-career transition, a headshot lounge to have a new professional profile picture taken, and additional interaction with military veterans who are industry leaders.
Military Transitions with Purpose and Resilience
Location: Las Vegas Convention Center West Hall, Room W218
Re-entering civilian life can be a challenge, and it can be hard to know where to get the right advice and guidance to overcome issues that prevent veterans from achieving their personal and professional goals. This session will focus on full spectrum leadership, featuring a panel discussion about important resources that vets can use to ease their transition, including mentorship, coaching and resources for personal and professional development. Still in the military? The session will also review steps to take now to set yourself up for success in civilian life.
