NBAA’s Management Guide, a member-only resource, has been updated with information tailored to meet the needs of aviation professionals seeking operational guidance specifically highlighting how the information ties to the association’s independently accredited Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) designation.

“The CAM has five domains that are tested on business management, leadership, human resources, operations and facilities and maintenance,” said Jamie Ingall, lead captain and aviation manager of VPP Aviation LLC, who is also a member of NBAA’s Business Aviation Management Committee (BAMC), and head of the BAMC’s Management Tools Subcommittee, which oversaw the latest updates.

“The biggest change we made structurally to the Management Guide has been to connect the chapters directly to specific CAM domains,” Ingall noted. “This approach to content packaging has proven easier for flight department personnel to navigate than previous versions of the Guide, which listed content only under general headings unrelated to the CAM.”

The Guide is typically updated on an annual basis; the most recent update was appreciably more comprehensive than previous refreshment efforts.

Recognized as one of NBAA’s most popular member benefits, the compendium is designed to help flight departments with operational, maintenance, administrative and other considerations. While not a complete resource for all functions of the flight department, the Guide offers important summaries of essential information concerning its.

Much of the information contained in the Guide may be used as reference material to educate non-aviation company personnel on accepted practices and norms of the business aviation community. One of the essential functions of flight department personnel is to ensure that all company personnel appreciate and understand the operation, capabilities and value of the flight department.
