Dear NBAA Member:

Thank you for contacting Congress to oppose H.R.2997, which seeks to privatize our nation’s air traffic control (ATC) system. As expected, the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee recently moved the bill forward – this means it could be considered soon by the full House, and is one step closer to being reality.

We must redouble our work to reach Congress, and explain that privatizing ATC will reduce general aviation’s access to airports and airspace. The system will be controlled by an unelected and unaccountable board, leaving expensive lawyers and lengthy legal proceedings as the only way for general aviation to challenge access restrictions.

Members of Congress are in their districts all this week for the July Fourth recess, and it is critical for NBAA members to let them know we are for modernization, not privatization. Consider taking the following actions now:

  • Directly contact your local Congressional office using NBAA’s toll-free action line. By calling 855-265-9002, you will be connected with your representatives and provided suggested talking points.
  • Visit the Town Hall Project to see if your representatives will be holding local events or town hall meetings, and attend to express your opposition H.R.2997.
  • Send a message opposing H.R.2997, by using the Twitter advocacy tool at NBAA’s Contact Congress resource.

NBAA has also created a document that responds to recent misrepresentations and myths about general aviation and our nation’s ATC system. Learn the truth about ATC privatization.

By taking action now, you can reinforce general aviation’s opposition to H.R.2997.

Thank you.
