Registration for 2021’s “Six Months to CAM” program – an NBAA initiative that offers a streamlined study process designed to enable working business aviation professionals to work toward earning the credential at their own pace – is now open.
The Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) program identifies qualified professionals to lead departments and organizations that use business aircraft. To date, more than 600 passionate, dedicated business aviation professionals who represent the industry’s best have earned this credential.
However, as any CAM-certified business aviation professional will attest, earning the credential is not easy. It demands a serious commitment from anyone who wants to enhance their industry knowledge and prepare for the CAM exam. And balancing work and personal responsibilities while preparing for the test can be challenging. That’s why NBAA’s “Six Months to CAM” was created.
“Six Months to CAM offers a streamlined study process designed to help working professionals maximize their efficiency.”
Six Months to CAM does not guarantee success on the CAM exam. Nor does it take the place of the hard work and many hours of study expected of potential CAMs. But what it does offer is a streamlined study process designed to help working professionals maximize their efficiency.
During 2020 nearly 200 people completed the Six Months to CAM program, and many of them have passed the challenging CAM exam. (See a partial list of newly credentialed CAMs below).

Highly Effective Teams at Work
This course will use fun, interactive techniques, as well as guest appearances from industry people, to get participants to think differently about teams and how they work. Motivational concepts that can enhance teamwork will be covered, including diversity, mutualism, inclusiveness and finding talent through a strength-based philosophy. Also, project management will be examined.
Fundamentals of IS-BAO
This workshop will provide attendees with a deeper understanding of the International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO) and safety management systems (SMS) in general and enable participants to confidently start the IS-BAO implementation process. For those who have already implemented IS-BAO, this course will help them prepare for an audit, reinforce the current IS-BAO concept and provide information on key changes to the safety standard.
Dynamics of Empowered Leadership
Leadership has evolved from a “do as I say!” style to a more flexible people- , company- and stakeholder-focused approach. Toxic behaviors, petty conflicts, and hidden agendas have no place in today’s business environment. Every team member brings a unique set of characteristics to the department, but the responsibility to maximize one’s potential, job satisfaction and safety procedures now encompasses both leaders and team members. Ideally, a leader sees the view from the balcony, directing the team to adhere to safety standards, deliver exceptional customer service and collaborate for the benefit of all. This course will help participants capitalize on group dynamics, maximize performance, assess the ethics of actions, learn to be better mentors and communicate more clearly.
