Students: Internships Can Help Launch Careers

Feb. 23, 2022

“Internships are crucial to getting a job,” says Michela Frederickson, who will be graduating with a B.S. in aviation business administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-Prescott (ERAU) this spring. “I would recommend starting them as soon as possible.”

Frederickson is on her second internship, this one with Boeing Finance, and she hopes to remain with the company after the internship ends. The ERAU senior also advises fellow students to go to as many career fairs as possible.

Additionally, she is working on several certifications that she thinks will also look good on her job applications.

Tianna McKenzie, who will be graduating from ERAU with a major in mechanical engineering, agrees that internships are extremely important.

“They have been huge in helping me understand exactly which role I want to be working in after graduation,” she notes. “I also have learned that if you interview with a smile on your face and are genuinely curious about the company, it will take you far in the interviewing process.”
