Being “fit to fly” is more than just a physical condition, it’s also a mental one. “We’re talking about having both the cognitive ability to process information, as well as the emotional stability,” said Dr. Dan Danzyck, a fellow in aerospace medicine at the Mayo Clinic. Danzyck said issues such as inability to sleep and difficulty concentrating on day-to-day tasks could be two signs that help is needed.
