FAA, NBAA Remind Operators to File Correct Flight Plans

The FAA issued an information for operators memo asking for operators to file accurate flight plans, due to an increasing number of inaccurate flight plans. “Occasionally, for whatever reason, operators need to make a change to that flight plan,” said John Kosak, NBAA Air Traffic Services specialist. “The problem comes when they make that change incorrectly. They might cancel the flight plan, but it doesn’t actually come out of the system, and now they’ve got two flight plans in the system and nobody’s sure which one they want knows.” Operators also need to reflect their aircraft’s capabilities in their flight plan, Kosak said.
