NBAA was actively involved in many issues in 2015, with some of the most prominent being the incorporation of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) into the national airspace system, and maintaining business aviation’s access to airports around the country, including East Hampton Airport (HTO) in New York and Santa Monica Municipal Airport (SMO) in California. But perhaps the biggest issue facing the industry this year was a proposal – as part of FAA reauthorization – to privatize the air traffic control system and fund it through user fees. With a March 2016 deadline looming for FAA reauthorization, that’s an issue NBAA members will likely hear a lot about in the new year.
