ICAO’s Aviation-Carbon Plan Exempts ‘Small Emitters’ In Business Aviation

The International Civil Aviation Association (ICAO) recently formalized a new international framework for regulating global aircraft emissions, known as Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation, or CORSIA. The regulation is voluntary for about the first six years, said NBAA Chief Operating Officer Steve Brown, adding that if it is implemented as currently proposed, the plan recognizes “that it’s not efficient or necessary to include all operators, so there’s an exemption for small emitters,” including most NBAA members.
