No other industry lifts people quite like aviation, both literally and figuratively. Today, we highlight two separate programs that use general aviation not only to inspire, but to also fulfill critical roles in humanitarian relief efforts in Ukraine and in the Mediterranean. “Whichever [non-governmental organization] that is involved in that area and needs support — either flying goods [in] or bringing people back out for medical treatment — we’re going to be there, and we are going to offer that for free,” says Manos Radisoglou, operations manager for the Humanitarian Pilots Initiative.
In this expanded episode of NBAA’s “Flight Plan,” host Rob Finfrock speaks with:
- Maya Ghazal, private pilot and goodwill ambassador, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees
- Omar El Manfalouty, head of Central Mediterranean Operations, Humanitarian Pilots Initiative
- Manos Radisoglou, operations manager, Humanitarian Pilots Initiative
- Damien Van Oost, pilot and SVAS operations manager, Humanitarian Pilots Initiative
