AvKids Activity Guide and Teacher’s Resource Now Available

Washington, DC, July 14, 2000 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) has released the AvKids Activity Guide and Teacher’s Resource. This publication will be used in conjunction with the NBAA AvKids (Aviation for Kids) Program, which incorporates science, math, geography and language arts skills to help students in grades 2 through 5 understand aviation, particularly business aviation.

Developed in coordination with grade-school teachers at Osceola Magnet School in Vero Beach, FL, the AvKids Activity Guide and Teacher’s Resource explains the basic elements of flight, the parts of the airplane and business aviation (the use of general aviation aircraft for business purposes). It also provides an aviation glossary and extensive recommended reading list.

The Activity Guide is stored in a sturdy binder and is distributed upon request to teachers and other interested parties at no charge. The publication is also available for download from the Web via the AvKids site at avkids.com. Teachers may download the entire document or a section at a time. In addition to the Activity Guide, the AvKids Web site contains many other creative activities and ideas for students, as well as the recently launched LitBase, a database of aviation-related children’s books.

For more information about the AvKids Program or to obtain a copy of the Activity Guide, visit avkids.com or contact NBAA at (202) 783-9286 or publications@nbaa.org.

NBAA represents the aviation interests of over 6,100 companies which own or operate general aviation aircraft as an aid to the conduct of their business, or are involved with business aviation. NBAA Member Companies earn annual revenues approaching $5 trillion — a number that is about half the gross domestic product — and employ more than 19 million people worldwide. The NBAA Annual Meeting & Convention is the world’s largest display of civil aviation products and services.
