Washington, DC, September 25, 2000 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) has launched a new initiative to help smaller flight departments with a variety of operational issues, announced NBAA President Jack Olcott.
This new program is called ‘B.A.S.I.C.S. for Busy Flight Departments,’ ” Olcott said today at NBAA’s pre-Annual Meeting & Convention Press Conference in Washington, DC, noting that “B.A.S.I.C.S. is actually an acronym for Business Aviation Seminar for Information, Concepts and Solutions.
Olcott explained that the new program was aimed at thousands of Part 91 business aviation operations throughout the United States, which often are faced with critical shortages of time, money and manpower. He added that the B.A.S.I.C.S. program was available to both Members and non-Members of NBAA.
Right now we are in the research and information gathering stage of this project,” Olcott continued. “Through surveys, focus groups and general Member feedback, we are going to determine the best approach to this program in terms of content and delivery formats.
In all likelihood, according to Olcott, the B.A.S.I.C.S. program will address a number of subjects of critical importance to smaller, high-activity operations including budgeting, financial and tax issues, maintenance programs, personnel requirements, relationships with senior management and training.
We envision that the B.A.S.I.C.S. for Busy Flight Departments program will be a highly time and cost efficient way for flight departments to receive, absorb and utilize important information that will immediately help their day-to-day operations,” Olcott explained.
NBAA represents the aviation interests of over 6,200 companies which own or operate general aviation aircraft as an aid to the conduct of their business, or are involved with business aviation. NBAA Member Companies earn annual revenues approaching $5 trillion — a number that is about half the gross domestic product — and employ more than 19 million people worldwide. The NBAA Annual Meeting & Convention is the world’s largest display of civil aviation products and services.
