Las Vegas, NV, Oct. 11, 2021 – Clark County civic and business leaders today welcomed the return of the world’s largest business aviation trade show to Las Vegas, noting the significant local economic impact the convention brings to the area, and applauding the event’s new sustainability efforts, which reflect the county’s emphasis on sustainable economic growth.
National Business Aviation Association’s (NBAA’s) Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE) will be held Tuesday through Thursday, Oct. 12-14 at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) and Henderson Executive Airport (HND), which is owned and operated by Clark County’s Department of Aviation.
“It’s great to have NBAA-BACE back,” Clark County Commissioner Michael Naft said at a news conference at Henderson Executive Airport (HND). “The event is proof that we can grow the economy at the same time we are taking new steps to reduce our environmental impact, just as we recognized in our Sustainability and Climate Action Plan adopted earlier this year. We appreciate NBAA’s leadership in this area and look forward to welcoming the convention back here for many years to come.”
The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority estimated in 2019 that NBAA-BACE generated approximately $40 million in economic activity throughout the week of the convention.
“It is a testament to the aviation industry’s resiliency that we are able to welcome NBAA-BACE back to Henderson Executive Airport this year,” said Clark County Director of Aviation Rosemary Vassiliadis. “This trade show always brings renewed focus to business aviation, which is so crucial to both our local and national economies.”
The event’s organizers added several new sustainability initiatives this year. NBAA has ensured that there is a growing supply of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) available at Henderson Executive Airport and McCarran International Airport (LAS) for those attending the convention. Use of the fuels can reduce aviation’s lifecycle carbon emissions by up to 80%.
NBAA-BACE also has a carbon-offset program for the first time that makes it one of the largest carbon-neutral trade shows in the country. The initiative will mitigate all convention attendees’ travel to and from the event, as well as the greenhouse gas emissions at NBAA-BACE. Additionally, nearly 100 exhibitors at the event have signed a brand-new “Green Pledge,” which offers a host of ways to mitigate their environmental footprint for the convention.
“We’re proud of our partnership with Clark County and these new sustainability efforts because they are important to the future of our industry, and to communities everywhere,” said NBAA President and Ed Bolen.
