WASHINGTON, DC, April 19, 2007 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) today announced that Corporate Angel Network (CAN) will recognize Westchester County and its airport for their support in the donation of the organization’s office space for nearly 25 years. The recognition will take place on April 26, during NBAA’s Business Aviation Regional Forum in White Plains, NY.

CAN’s sole mission is to transport cancer patients to specialized treatment or clinical trials using empty seats on business aircraft.

Since its founding 25 years ago, CAN has grown to include 530 participating companies (including virtually all of the business aviation organizations based at Westchester County Airport), five paid staff and a team of 50 part-time volunteers who work with patients, physicians, flight departments and leading treatment centers to coordinate the medical travel needs of cancer patients with the scheduled flight activity of participating businesses. To date, CAN has arranged more than 25,000 flights and provides over 200 patient flights a month.

“CAN’s ability to provide our service at no charge is due in large measure to the generosity of the people at the airport and surrounding Westchester County,” said CAN Executive Director Peter Fleiss. “CAN greatly appreciates the ongoing support of the county, and in particular the generosity of County Executive Andy Spano.”

Spano will receive the recognition from CAN on behalf of the airport during the Opening Session of the Regional Forum, which will begin at 9:00 a.m. CAN Executive Director Peter Fleiss will be joined by NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen and Westchester Aviation Association President Jeff Lee in presenting a plaque to Spano.

“The Corporate Angel Network provides an outstanding service to people battling cancer,” said Bolen. “NBAA Member Companies have long supported CAN’s efforts, and we are pleased to take part in the organization’s recognition of the people at Westchester County Airport and in the surrounding community.”

NBAA’s Business Aviation Regional Forum is a day-long learning and networking experience designed to meet the needs of the business aviation community. The White Plains Regional Forum will provide an introduction to local business leaders interested in learning more about business aviation.
