Washington, DC, September 11, 2002 – The International Business Aviation Council (IBAC), of which the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) is a founding member, today made the following announcements at the NBAA 55th Annual Meeting & Convention in Orlando regarding the new International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO), a code of best practice developed by the industry:

  • The audit program for the IS-BAO is now available
  • A number of third-party accredited auditors have been named
  • Flight departments that choose to implement IS-BAO and have an audit completed will receive a certificate of registration from IBAC
  • Since the formal launch, IBAC has dispatched 133 copies of IS-BAO.

The International Business Aviation Council (IBAC) is a council of national and regional associations worldwide. IBAC, in partnership with its member associations, initiated more than two years ago the concept of an operating standard representing industry best practices. The resulting IS-BAO was formally introduced earlier this year at the European Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (EBACE2002) in Geneva, Switzerland. NBAA is an active Member of IBAC and participated in the development of the international standard.

For more information about IS-BAO or to purchase copies of the standard, visit the NBAA web site at www.nbaa.org/ops/is-bao.

NBAA represents the aviation interests of more than 7,200 companies which own or operate general aviation aircraft as an aid to the conduct of their business, or are involved with business aviation. NBAA Member Companies earn annual revenues approaching $5 trillion — a number that is about half the gross domestic product — and employ more than 19 million people worldwide. The NBAA Annual Meeting & Convention is the world’s largest display of civil aviation products and services.
