John H. Ratcliff Joins NBAA Board of Directors

Washington, DC, May 22, 2001 – John H. Ratcliff of Ford Motor Company has been appointed by the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Board of Directors to fill the unexpired term of past Director Kenneth Peartree of Hewlett Packard, who resigned from the Board. Ratcliff will stand for election for a three-year term in September.

Ratcliff brings to NBAA the skills and knowledge he learned as a senior-level aviation-department manager. He currently serves as Ford Motor Company’s North America aviation director and chief pilot. Since joining Ford in 1973, he also has held positions as pilot, supervisor of flight operations and chief pilot, respectively. In addition, from 1967 to 1971, Ratcliff was a U.S. Air Force active-duty pilot; he also was a member of the Michigan Air National Guard through 1982.

In 1966, Ratcliff graduated from the University of North Texas with a B.A. in mathematics, and in 1979, he earned an M.S. in accounting from Eastern Michigan University. He also completed the “Managing the Corporate Aviation Function” program at the Darden School at the University of Virginia in 1993.

Ratcliff has 3,300 hours of military flight time and 9,200 hours of civilian flight time. He is a designated pilot proficiency examiner for Convair 580 aircraft and a founding member of the Midwest Safety Roundtable. He initiated and assisted in writing FAR Part 61.57 night-landing qualifications and has written a disaster-preparedness article for Flight Safety Foundation.
