NBAA President & CEO Shelley A. Longmuir to Testify Before Congress in Support of Secure General Aviation Access to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and TFRs

Washington, DC, March 11, 2004 – Shelley A. Longmuir, President and CEO of the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA), will testify before Congress in support of secure access to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) and TFRs (temporary flight restrictions) nationally for security-qualified general aviation aircraft before a field hearing of the Aviation Subcommittee of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee on Tuesday, March 16, 2004. The hearing will start at 2:00 p.m. ET, and will be held at Signature Flight Support at DCA.

The hearing, which will be chaired by Rep. John Mica (R-7-FL), was called to focus on proposals to reopen DCA to general aviation aircraft, which have been prohibited from using the airport since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. General aviation aircraft include all civilian aircraft (i.e., private and corporate aircraft) other than those operated by commercial carriers.

Note to Editors: Parking for the media will be available at the Signature facility. Additional parking is available at the north end of the Satellite/Economy lot, which is close to the Signature facility. Coming into the airport, follow the signs for the general aviation terminal, which is to the right of the main entrance of the airport.
