Washington, DC, September 9, 2002 – Participants in the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) 6th Annual Chairman’s Charity Classic Golf Tournament yesterday raised $47,000 for Challenge Air for Kids & Friends, a Dallas-based organization that offers children with disabilities throughout the United States the opportunity to experience the wonder and thrill of a flight in a small airplane. Approximately 288 golfers and 37 sponsors participated in the sold-out event, played at Disney’s Bonnet Creek Golf Club.

NBAA Chairman George Saling of Philip Morris Management Corp. presented the check to Rusty Tedrick, executive director for Challenge Air for Kids & Friends, at the awards luncheon following the tournament.

We are privileged and proud to be able to assist the efforts of Challenge Air for Kids & Friends through this golf tournament,” said Joe Ponte, NBAA vice president and tournament organizer. “Their program to expose children to the wonder of flight is extremely worthwhile. Children in the program receive a learning experience they would never otherwise be given.

In the six years that the golf event has been in existence, Ponte said, this year’s total of $47,000 was the largest donation to date. Of that amount, $3,800 is credited to the efforts of New World Aviation, which conducted a “Beat the Pro” contest to raise additional money for Challenge Air.

The NBAA Chairman’s Charity Classic is held each year prior to the Association’s Annual Meeting & Convention, held this year on September 10 to 12, 2002, in Orlando. For more information, visit www.nbaa.org/conventions/2002.

NBAA represents the aviation interests of more than 7,200 companies which own or operate general aviation aircraft as an aid to the conduct of their business, or are involved with business aviation. NBAA Member Companies earn annual revenues approaching $5 trillion — a number that is about half the gross domestic product — and employ more than 19 million people worldwide. The NBAA Annual Meeting & Convention is the world’s largest display of civil aviation products and services.
