NBAA Announces 1999–2000 USAIG/PDP Scholarship Winners and New PDP Scholarship Opportunity

Washington, DC, May 9, 2000 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) is pleased to announce the recipients of the 1999–2000 U.S. Aircraft Insurance Group (USAIG) Professional Development Program (PDP) Scholarship. NBAA also is proud to announce the availability of a new scholarship, the Greater Indianapolis Business Aircraft Association (GIBAA) PDP Scholarship.

Thanks to the contributions of USAIG over the last three years, NBAA has awarded $6,000 in scholarships to undergraduate students who are interested in business aviation careers. This year three $1,000 USAIG/PDP awards were granted to Nicole Salazar of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) and Jeremy Jankowski and Luke Bledsoe of Purdue University.

Nicole Salazar is a junior at ERAU studying aeronautical science. She is working on an instrument rating and desires a career in aviation. Jeremy Jankowski is a junior at Purdue University studying professional flight technology. As an instructor pilot he is carrying a full course load and teaching students. Luke Bledsoe is a sophomore at Purdue University studying aviation flight technology. Also an instructor, Luke is a member of the University Flight Team. NBAA and USAIG congratulate these students for their aviation career pursuits.

NBAA’s Professional Development Program offers classes through University Aviation Association-approved institutions in order to train future business aviation leaders and improve the professionalism of flight department personnel. The USAIG/PDP Scholarship enables students to gain professional skills that will promote their careers in business aviation. Eligible candidates for the 2000–2001 USAIG/PDP scholarships are undergraduate sophomores, juniors, or seniors enrolled in an institution that offers PDP-approved courses.

Additionally, for the new GIBAA PDP Scholarship, three $1,150 scholarships will be awarded to applicants who are enrolled full-time in a college or university offering the NBAA PDP.

Eligible institutions that offer PDP-approved classes are Central Missouri State University, Concordia University, Eastern Michigan University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Mercer County Community College (NJ), Purdue University, University of North Dakota and University of Oklahoma.
